Dome inner color

Hello everybody,

I'm happy to find a community sharing my concerns!

I'm an interactive video artist working on a 3m dome for an interactive project called "The Méta-crane" ([http://www.thomasisrael.be/meta-crane.html).

I'm developing interactive video and sound content and the dome itself.

After 6 month research on a fabric prototype, I'm now building the final dome in polyester and I'm looking for a few answer concerning surface painting.

I know that I should use a grey, more or less 50% and I believe matt painting, but I would be very glade to receive more precise information.

Due to the small size of dome, I guess I should use a darker gray, but witch one? what type of color for a polyester surface?

If anyone have experience with this, I would gladly appreciate the help!

Fabulous project! Visualizing the human brain/mind has been a passion of mine for years. Please keep sharing your work!

On your question about screen gain, have you selected final projector(s)? Number of projectors? Brightness? Contrast?

I can't give you a technically valid suggestion myself, but I know a lot of much smarter people who could probably help if you can provide the details.

Hello David, Thanks for your interest!
I use a Full HD projector (optoma TX 1080, same as the EP 1080) - 3600 lumen and 2200:1 in contrast
with a hemispheric mirror (Paul Bourke's technic) in a 3 meter dome.

The question is also, how to effectively calculate the gain, with the different paint test I will do, to reach my theoretical best gain?
