GSCA-IMERSA Pre-Summit Workshop
Wednesday, March 5, 2014
This dome standards retreat is the beginning of a real visible effort between the GSCA and IMERSA to formalize their relationship and begin to identify common grounds for our constituencies.
This facilitated work session gathers dome screen decision makers, engineers, system integrators, producers, distributors, and exhibitors to identify; what we have in common, the challenges we are facing and our common needs. We are planning to outline a roadmap towards mutually beneficial solutions.
A goal of the retreat will be to identify who the players are industry wide, who is who and who is doing what. We will aim to develop a common vocabulary and identify the areas of interest that apply to all types of Domes – Giant Screen, Fulldome, portable and Small Domes. We will try to identify specific needs of individual market segments, portable domes, giant screens, medium and small domes etc. And identify shared needs of the entire group such as specifications, technology, production values and operations.
Additionally we want to identify opportunities, barriers to success, and communicate a united industry vision while promoting ethical practices and fair trade. Preliminary industry standards and technical specs have been drafted in the IMERSA fulldome standards and the DIGGS 1 documents. We will address harmonizing this prior work, identify mechanisms for research, and outline draft best practices documentation, and hopefully ask the participants to ratify the outcome.
