Call for Papers, Panel Discussions and Presentations at the first IMERSA Day on the occasion of the 12th FullDome Festival in Jena, Germany, May 27, 2018
IMERSA and the Jena FullDome Festival promote international cooperation for the development of 360-degree media
This is a call for proposals to present or lead a panel session for the first IMERSA Day at the 12th FullDome Festival in Jena, May 27, 2018. For the first time in its history, the Jena FullDome Festival will be hosting an "IMERSA Day" in conjunction with the Festival. This is a special opportunity about fulldome and IMERSA activities that all are welcome to attend. We will review highlights from the 2018 IMERSA Summit and collaborate on plans for the future.
We are asking all players in the fulldome and planetarium community to submit proposals for presentations or a panel discussion by April 30. Presentations and panels shall take from 10 to 45 minutes.
The initiators identified a growing interest in the international exchange of best practices, guidelines and ways of cooperation in the different fields of technical advancements, production, and marketing of the immersive media. We want to bring people together and to share knowledge for our professional development. We hope to find interested people to discuss and present ideas and practices to organize the meeting within a short term.
IMERSA and FullDome Festival want to support their respective activities and combine networks in order to strengthen and streamline their agenda and discuss effective strategies for creative productions and future-oriented marketing. The development of standards in technology, production and distribution shall be discussed by international representatives of the fulldome community. Both organisations, IMERSA and Full Dome Festival, hope to increase the involvement of European partners to the benefit of all parties. We believe that the “IMERSA Day” in conjunction with the FullDome Festival would have the advantage for many Europeans and even people from Asia to avoid much travel and to save costs. Presenting and participating in the IMERSA Day is free of charge.
The number of planetariums and dome theatres with digital projection technology has grown rapidly worldwide in recent years. With digital technology, requirements for production and marketing of full dome presentations have also changed. Topics, demands and development opportunities of the 360-degree immersive medium are discussed and evaluated at various occasions and levels. IMERSA (Immersive Media Entertainment, Research, Science & Arts), based in the USA, fosters the growing interest in digital full dome cinema, immersive entertainment, performance art and virtual experiences. The FullDome Festival in Germany offers a platform for all current professional, independent and student works, characterized by innovation and inspiration.
Interested parties can submit papers and panels online: http://fulldome-festival.de/submission-form/ or contact us at contact@fulldome-festival.de.
