Hello all.  New to this site. We have a brand new full dome product coming out and we are interested in filming with an FC-E9 lens or similar.  Could anyone tell me if they have any experience with an HD prosumer video camera with a lens like this?

I understand the desire to get a 180 degree fisheye, bolt it on a video camera, and grab content from the world around us. It's not that easy. First you need a lens that does 180 on the sensor in your camera, and the camera has to use the whole sensor when recording your video. Second HD probably isn't good enough to justify your expense in recording the content in the first place if it's for resale. Third fisheye lenses are prone to huge amounts of flair. Forth there are at least three types of fulldome operators, one that wants to do her own shows, and another that wants to buy cheap shows that someone else produced, and just a couple who are willing to spend a significant amount for great content. Very very specific great content…

Don't start with: "what can I do" with this or that lens/camera. Do start with: "this is what I want to do:" X resolution, Y dynamic range, Z angle of view, N length, M locations, P post production…When you run out of upper case letters is roughly the time to start looking for hardware that fits your requirements.
