Full-length feature shows – please submit now

Dear friends,

the 9th FullDome Festival will take place in the Zeiss-Planetarium in Jena/Germany from May 27 to May 30, 2015. You are all invited to submit a show, short film or clip. And we hope many of you will also take part in person.

The annual FullDome-Festival is a key event for professionals and activists in the field of 360-degree immersive multimedia productions. The purpose of the Festival is to showcase recent fulldome productions and to provide an open platform to promote the art, the business and the future of fulldome. The festival has attracted thousands of visitors and gained international reputation. No other festival in the world has raised more prize money as a material reward for fulldome artists. The Festival’s own “JANUS” fulldome awards have become sought after prizes that acknowledge excellence and creativity in fulldome productions. The meeting of kindred spirits, getting to know inspiring ideas and finding support for collaborative projects across various disciplines have been noted as characteristic features of the Jena FullDome-Festival.

The 9th FullDome Festival will show professional, independent and student productions in different categories and a limited number of newly produced full‐length feature shows. Student contributions must not exceed the length of 5 min, independent producers may submit shows or short films no longer than 15 min. Producers of feature shows may apply for screenings at the Festival (see deadlines below). Student, independent fulldome productions and fulldome short films can be submitted without prior registrations. The Festival

Directors and the jury decide which of the entries will be part of the published Festival program and finally be screened.

The FullDome Festival jury of independent experts will rate the productions and decide on the FullDome‐Festival’s own “JANUS” awards in various categories. A “best‐of” selection of all 2015 entries will be presented at the Festival Gala and award ceremony on May 30th.

Please mark the date to finally register full-length feature shows: February 23, 2015! This Festival category will present shows running between 20 and 50 min. The productions in this category must be released not earlier than January 1, 2014. All full‐length feature shows approved and accepted for screening by the Festival Directors will be publicly shown in full length. Our confirmation deadline is March 12, 2015; delivery deadline is March 23, 2015.

As in previous years, the festival is themed around a motto, which is »Romantic Circles« in 2015. Jena is the place where young men and women poets, scientists, artists and philosophers started the romantic movement. What they conceived in their spirited circles at the turn of the 18th and 19th century was a far cry from the globalized cliché which romanticism is now mostly associated with. The early Jena romanticists preached and practiced a new form of radical subjectivity in life and art that influenced the history of modern psychology, literature and yes: media. The city of Jena commemorates this tradition by naming 2015 the year of “Romanticism – Light – Infinity”. The FullDome Festival gladly takes it up and, and with respect to the circular nature of immersive surround media, choses “Romanic Circles” as the motto. A special “Blaue Blume” Award, sponsored by the city of Jena, honors a Fulldome show which best reflects the theme and the inspiration of romantic circles for contemporary audiences.

Please feel free to contact any of the Directors in cc with any questions on the FullDome Festival. If you are going to the IMERSA Summit in Denver you shall talk to Prof. Micky Remann, initiator and Senior Director of the FullDome Festival. We are looking forward to meet you in Jena. We’ll keep the beer cool for you!

Horizons of the Future - New fulldome show

We're very pleased to offer a new fulldome show from a new producer. "Horizons of the Future" is an excellent and affordable artistic entertainment piece by Axon Genesis.
