immersive projection environments
It's been out for only a few weeks, and already our light pollution planetarium show Losing the Dark has had more than 12,000 views from its various postings on YouTube, and hundreds of downloads (it's free!). At Loch Ness Productions, we're very pleased with all the positive comments and reviews we've received.
We produced the show in English first, and it was always planned that we would make several translations available thereafter. So far, we've posted versions in German, Hindi, Korean, and Spanish -- and more languages will be following soon.
How many more? Well, the International Dark-Sky Association has had more than 18 requests for various languages so far — a pretty good indicator of the show's popularity. We're all gratified by the response, of course, and we want to meet the demand.
To help pay for the additional production work to create all the fulldome and flat-screen versions, the IDA recently set up a modest fundraising campaign on the crowdsourcing site Indiegogo, called "Taking Losing the Dark Global". They've reached only about a quarter of their goal, however, and there are only a few days left. If you can contribute to the cause, and help get the word out about this serious issue, we will all appreciate it.
