The spectacle of the night sky has fascinated people since ancient times. The desire to understand nature and the behavior of stars led our ancestors to develop the science of Astronomy, possibly the oldest existing sciences. These questions still awake our curiosity, even though most of us now live in cities with plenty of light pollution. The skies are nothing more than a shadow of what they once were. Very often we ask questions about the Cosmos. This book is trying to answer some of these questions.
The author Jordi Aloy i Domènech (born in Barcelona, 1964) studied Physics at the University of Barcelona. Jordi is a vocational astronomer since young and has extensive experience from the world of amateur Astronomy. Jordi has been an active member of Astronomical associations such as the ¨Astronomical Association of Sabadell¨ and “Aster, Agrupación Astronómica de Barcelona”; organization that he represented as President from 1994 to 1998. He has written numerous informative articles and his research in the field of Astronomy and Astrophysics have been published in various media of communication and both national and international journals. From the year 1990 until 2009, Jordi worked as Planetarium Operator at the science museum of the "la Caixa" Foundation("CosmoCaixa"), where he took courses and practiced scriptwriting, scheduling and execution of scientific activities for both a general public as well as for public schools.
